Quallium - Providing That Rare Element of Quality

Ottawa’s choice for solar power, wind energy, and emergency back-up power

Here are some examples of residential projects sponsored by various Crown Corporations and departments within the Government of Canada.

Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation(“CMHC”) sponsored the building of a “Healthy House” in Riverdale (Toronto) starting in 1992. This project featured a house that was located on a small downtown lot in Metro Toronto that was independent of city water, sewage, and natural gas. Water was obtained from rain and snow. Electricity comes from PV modules and occasionally a co-generator when the sun is absent for extended periods of time. The sun also provides heating through passive and active techniques. For more information please visit the CMHC web site and look at the “Toronto Healthy House” under the Healthy House Index.

The Ontario Power Authority introducted their FIT and MicroFIT programs in October 2009. These offer payments of varying amounts per kW produced by a renewable energy system, which are guaranteed for the at least 20 years.
